Between Worlds. Iskandar Widjaja & Vestards Šimkus

Two bright and creative artists, two distinct cultural experiences, and a concert program created specifically for the Ventspils Concert Hall. In the concert "Between Worlds," internationally acclaimed violinist Iskandar Widjaja from Indonesia and pianist Vestards Šimkus will meet on stage, creating a beautiful evening suspended between classical music traditions, improvisation, and a personal musical narrative.

Iskandar Widjaja is one of the most brilliant violinists of his generation, whose artistic signature combines academic precision with creative freedom and stage charisma. His concerts amaze with virtuosity, energy, and an ability to reveal the classical repertoire in unexpected colors, while simultaneously building a live dialogue with the audience.

Performing alongside him is pianist and composer Vestards Šimkus, whose interpretations stand out for their deep musical intellect, spontaneity, and refined sound culture. The meeting of these two artists promises not only high-caliber musical interplay but also a creative encounter between different cultures, experiences, and musical worlds.

The program offers the audience a diverse repertoire where classical music masterpieces will intertwine with elements of improvisation and personal musical touches. The concert is organized by SIA “Kurzemes filharmonija” with the support of the Ventspils State City Municipality and the State Culture Capital Foundation.
