Choral Music Award Ceremony
On January 24, 2026 at 5:00 PM, the third Choral Music Award will be presented at the Ventspils Concert Hall “Latvija” – the only award in Latvia, the aim of which is to highlight the most outstanding achievements in the field of choral music, creativity, as well as pedagogical work in 2025.
The Choral Music Award in Ventspils will be a festive evening, where the most outstanding choirs and conductors of Latvia will meet, highlighting the quality of choral art and the continuation of traditions. The ceremony and a specially designed concert program will feature outstanding choirs and conductors, creating a unified sound and a panorama of Latvian choral culture. The Choral Music Award will be available in person to all interested parties.
“We will present the award for the third time. Latvian choral culture is rich and full-fledged in all its manifestations, regions and levels – the school choir movement, the Song Festival process, professional choirs and conductors. The award is an opportunity to look back on the past year together, evaluate what has been achieved, see the current events and development directions of the industry, and at the same time show respect to the professionals of the industry who selflessly and passionately nurture and develop the choral music industry year after year.," emphasizes Ints Teterovskis, Chairman of the Board of the Song Festival Society.
The concert program will feature works by several prominent Latvian composers, including Raimonds Tiguls—the world’s most performed Latvian choral composer in 2024 (AKKA/LAA)—as well as 2026 anniversary celebrants Raimonds Pauls and Pēteris Vasks, alongside music by Marģeris Zariņš and Laura Jēkabsone. Composer Raimonds Tiguls will attend the concert and perform personally at the organ of the "Latvija" Concert Hall.
The Choral Music Award presentation concert will feature special guests and the winners of the School Youth Song and Dance Festival will participate – Ventspils Music Secondary School Choir “Nošu planētas” and Rudīte Tālberga, Ventspils Center Primary School Boys’ Choir “Vivo” and Santa Treilība, Mixed Choir “Ventspils” and Aigars Meri (winner of the 2023 Choral Music Award in the Choir Leader of the Year category), youth choir “Balsis” (winner of the 2024 Choral Music Award in the Choir of the Year category) and Ints Teterovskis.
