Since 1998, Mārtiņš Klišāns has been the Choir’s artistic director and conductor. The Choir is one of the most active performing groups. In 2001 it was awarded the Great Music Award. It has subsequently been nominated several times for this high music award, as well as for the Music Recording of the Year Award for its joint project with Uģis Prauliņš. For nearly two decades, the Choir has been actively involved in several productions of the Latvian National Opera, and has participated in the musical design of dramatic theatre and even ballet performances. In the last decade, the Choir has performed in many concert halls around the world, including the Royal Albert Hall in London and Japan’s finest concert halls, for former US President Barack Obama and his 400 guests at the White House, and for the Presidents of Lithuania and Finland in Vilnius and Helsinki.
