Concert programme “Pēteris Vasks and comrades” I vaccinated, recovered
On Sunday, 10 October, Latvian Radio choir, conductor Sigvards Kļava, and Reinis Zariņš, the piano, are inviting you to Ventspils, to the concert hall “Latvia” to continue celebration of composer's Pēteris Vasks 75-year anniversary by concert programme “Pēteris Vasks and comrades”.
In honor of the anniversary of Pēteris Vasks, which was celebrated by the composer in spring, Latvian Radio choir, conductor Sigvards Kļava, and Reinis Zariņš, the piano, have joined together choir music and piano music with several first performances, composed by Pēteris Vasks, Arturs Maskats and Andrejs Selickis.
There will be the dramatic ballad “The Names of Our Mothers” (the author of lyrics Māris Čaklais), the savory prayer “My Lord and My God”, the piano piece “Summer” from the cycle “Seasons”, as well as the “The Fruit of Silence” with Mother Teresa's words.
In addition to the music of Pēteris Vasks, the audience will be able to listen to the piano music “Spring Theme”, composed by Arturs Maskats, and the music piece “Agnus Dei”. The music pieces of Andrejs Selickis are also expected – “An Ecstatic Song for the Mother of God” and “Ave Maria”.
Pēteris Vasks is one of the most important light movers in the cultural space of Latvia, who has always been actively interested in his colleagues-composers by supporting and visiting their first performances. Pēteris Vasks's music has always been presented in the life of Latvian Radio choir, by playing and singing with its spiritual power and eternal desire towards the light.
