Daddy Was a Milkman & Gints Smukais Acoustic Concert “Quite Something”
After sold-out concerts last spring, the owner of the velvety voice Daddy Was A Milkman and guitarist Gints Smukais are embarking on a new acoustic tour "Quite Something".
Daddy Was a Milkman (real name Igns Počūns) and Latvian guitar virtuoso Gints Smukais continue their creative collaboration, which began after their first meeting in Riga. “I was very lucky to meet an incredibly talented Latvian guitar wizard – Gints Smukais in the winter. I listened to his entire rehearsal without closing my eyes – I was enchanted,” shares Daddy Was A Milkman. The idea of performing his songs in an acoustic format had been on his mind for a long time. However, he was missing an excellent guitarist who could captivate the audience with just one instrument for several hours. “Gints can do it, and does it brilliantly! We discussed the possibility of playing together, and we didn’t have to wait long.” Since then, the interaction between the two artists has developed into intimate, melodic concert moments, in which the emotional atmosphere of the songs and excellent guitar playing skills are intertwined.
Musician Gints Smukais describes how they met: “While talking, we quickly realized that we had very similar views on the processes of creating music and the magic of performing our own music, and, in general, we both really like guitars! He [Daddy Was a Milkman] had long had the idea of creating a concert in a duet version with a guitar. When he heard me play, he took it as a sign – that this was the right time to realize this vision!”
The concerts will feature songs from Daddy Was A Milkman's album "Quite Something", released in the middle of last year, such beloved compositions as "Breath In", "This Is How I Feel" and "Sleeping Alone", as well as special versions of songs arranged by Gints Smukās.
