Egils Siliņš | solo concert

Participates: bass-baritone Egils Siliņš and pianist Māris Skuja.

The tandem of bass-baritone Egils Siliņš and pianist Māris Skuja will be appearing in concert hall “LATVIJA” for the first time with a concert programme for voice and piano, which will include music form Latvian and German composers.

The most excellent Latvian bass-baritone Egils Siliņš is the winner of multiple vocal competitions and has worked with the golden five of opera houses around the world during his career – Vienna State Opera, New York Metropolitan Opera,” La Scala” in Milan, Bastille Opera in Paris, Covent Garden Opera in London, as well as many other opera houses around the world. Egils Siliņš repertoire includes 90 roles in total. Since 2019, he has also been Chairman of the Board of the Latvian National Opera and Ballet while continuing his career as a singer. For example, at the end of March 2023 Egils Siliņš performed in the new National Theatre in Tokyo, Japan, where he was in four performances of Jacques Offenbach's opera “The Tales of Hoffmann”.

Māris Skuja has been the principal accompanist for the Latvian National Opera for 16 years, but since 1991 he has also been the accompanist for the Graz Opera – the second biggest opera house in Austria. From 2001 to 2017, he was the principal accompanist, but since 2002, he has also been the head of the opera studio. Skuja's repertoire includes more than 90 operas, as well as a significant number of oratorios, cantatas, and operettas.

Egils Siliņš and Māris Skuja have produced an album filled with songs made by Latvian composers for the 100-year celebration of Latvia’s independence. This tandem will be visiting the concert hall for the first time with a concert programme that includes Latvian as well as German music.
