A Radiant Finale to the Ventspils City Festival: Music by Raimonds Tiguls
As tradition holds, Concert Hall “Latvija” will provide a resounding and heartfelt finale to the Ventspils City Festival — and this year is no exception. On August 3 at 16:00, the closing concert of the Ventspils City Festival 700+35 will feature the most beautiful songs and compositions by Raimonds Tiguls.
The composer will perform alongside the string quintet of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, Ieva Šablovska (harp), and guest soloists.
The concert program includes music from well-known films such as Mother’s Milk and The Fate’s Land Surveyors, as well as new works and beloved choral songs that have echoed at the Latvian Song and Dance Festival — including “Lec, saulīte” (Rise, O Sun) and “Dod, Dieviņi” (Give, O God).
Raimonds Tiguls is a composer and producer who has received multiple Latvian Music Recording Awards. His choral works “Lec, saulīte” and “Dod, Dieviņi” have become audience favorites, both among Song Festival choirs and listeners. Thanks to a collaboration with the U.S. music publisher E.C. Schirmer/Galaxy, Tiguls’ music has been performed on prestigious international stages — including Carnegie Hall in New York and Seoul Arts Center by the National Chorus of Korea.
Raimonds Tiguls is also the creator of the Tiguļkalns open-air concerts, which have become a cherished tradition, bringing together admirers of his music from all across Latvia.
