Copenhagen Royal Chapel Choir
On April 30, the internationally acclaimed Royal Copenhagen Boys' Choir, conducted by Carsten Sayer-Hansen (Carsten Seyer-Hansen) under the direction of. The concert will feature Danish accordion virtuoso Bjarke Mogensen (Bjarke Mogensen).
The Royal Copenhagen Boys' Choir celebrated its 100th anniversary in the 2024/2025 season. It has gained international recognition, touring most of the world. The choir mainly performs classical music written specifically for boys' and men's voices. Its ambitious work and high artistic level have attracted guest conductors such as Benjamin Britten (Benjamin Britten), Rafael Kubelik (Raphael Kubelik), Sir Andrew Davies (Sir Andrew Davies) and Paul McCreesh (Paul McCreesh). In addition, the outstanding Scandinavian composers Paul Ruders (Poul Ruders), Per Nergord (Per Norgard), Knut Nystedt (Knut Nysted) and Sven David Sandström (Sven-David Sandström) have created works dedicated specifically to the Copenhagen Boys' Choir.
The patron of the Royal Boys' Choir of Copenhagen is His Majesty King Frederick X, therefore the choir also performs at special events of the Danish Royal House.
At the concert in Ventspils, the choir will perform iconic compositions by Benjamin Britten Te Deum un Rejoice in the Lamb, Anton Bruckner Locust, as well as music by Nordic composers.
The concert is organized by SIA “Kurzemes filharmonija” with the support of the Ventspils City Municipality.
