Swedish vocal ensemble “Sundbyberg” and organist Rikard Lindberg Karlsson (Richard Lindberg Karlsson) concert in Ventspils offers a journey through the sounds inspired by the sea and masterpieces of Swedish music. The concert “Northern Stories” will feature compositions by Jesta Nyström, Läs Edlund, Karina Renkvist, Johan Helmich Roman and August Sēdermans. The program also includes Ēriks Ešenvalds’ “Magnificat” and Arvo Pärt’s meditation "Which was the son of...". The voices of the choir and the sounds of the organ will reveal the peace and power of the sea in this concert.
“Vokalensemblen Sundbyberg” is an association of experienced musicians, conductors and singers. It promotes new Swedish music and provides an opportunity to get to know lesser-known works, including great church compositions – Bach oratorios, Mozart and Brahms requiems. “Sundbyberg”’s latest recording “Et in terra…” has received not only excellent reviews in Sweden, but also the highest rating from the prestigious classical music publication “BBC Music Magazine”.
The founder and artistic director of the vocal ensemble, Rikard Lindberg Karlsson, is a well-known Swedish conductor and organist. Karlsson is known for his interpretations of ambitious choral and orchestral works. Under his leadership, both classical gems and complex 20th-century works have been performed. a cappella scores. Karlsons is also an active composer, focusing especially on motets, but often includes works by Baltic composers, including Latvian ones, in his concert programs.
The concert is organized by SIA “Kurzemes filharmonija” with the support of the Ventspils City Municipality.
