The three Osokins in Ventspils
Pianists of the Osokin dynasty—father Sergejs and sons Andrejs and Georgijs Osokins—will perform piano masterpieces by Western European and Latvian composers in the concert “The three Osokins in Ventspils”. The pianists will play in various formations—solo, duets, and even trios—showing the power of three grand pianos in all their glory. The concert will feature well-known works from the classical repertoire and arrangements specially made for this concert, thus making this evening a true feast for both classical music connoisseurs and a wider audience of music lovers.
The three Osokins are a brand of pianistic art. Sergejs Osokins and his sons have entered the world music arena with their unique piano sound. Each stroke of the piano keys has purpose, is expressed and transformed into subtle vibrations of sound that reach listeners and reveal to them the nuances of the music itself. Playing together is a creative challenge for them, as they each have a bright and talented personality on their own.
All three musicians of the Osokin dynasty have received the Great Music Award which is the highest music award in Latvia. The youngest member of the dynasty, Georgijs, brought Latvia brilliant success by becoming a diploma winner at the legendary Fryderyk Chopin Competition in Warsaw. It is the most brilliant victory for the Baltic States after regaining independence, but musicians call this competition the Olympics - it takes place every five years and brings together more than 450 pianists from all over the world. A concert recording of the three Osokins was broadcast on the German internet TV channel “Klassik.TV”. In 2018, their first studio album, “The three Osokins play Latvian Piano Music” was released, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Latvian state.
The Osokins' joint concerts are events with a deeply thought-out message, always featuring the golden repertoire of piano music and masterpieces of classical music in original arrangements for two or even three pianos.
